CULTURAL DIVERSITY

THE POWER OF DIVERSITY

(an extract from my write up for Sunday service)

The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.  These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies.  It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. As it is written in:  Revelation 7:9; after this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands

Life is big and long and wide. The more diverse our culture, the more creative and evolved are the products that come from it. Embrace it. As it is written in:  Colossians 1:16-17; for by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Despite the difference in our cultural background, ethnic group, traits and tribes, our ability to work together as a team is what yields the result that we are looking for, God sent us to decrease the kingdom of darkness and increase the kingdom of heaven which is our responsibility on earth, this has gotten nothing to do with our diverse cultures but with the power in our diversity to achieve all of this. As it is written in: 1 Corinthians 12:15-19; if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be?

If we come together and use our diverse nature in the way we best know how, it will be easy to work towards the goal of our father in heaven; remember the more diverse we are, the more creative and evolved our result will be. As it is written in: Malachi 2:10; Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers?

Let us use the diversity in our culture to build the world and we would be amazed at what we can all achieve together. As is it written in: Romans 12:4-8; for as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

You all are invited this Sunday, April 10th 2016 to my church for our diversity Sunday; Holyghost Christian Center, 144 S 14th street, Newark, NJ, 07107. Trust me you will never want to leave.

Just Writing

An enthusiastically emotional realist. I believe that life is not all about YES or NO but a few Mybes and In-decisions but your ability to figure it out makes you stand out. A lover of God and His ways and I believe that a Hopeless romantic is not bad because we view life in a romantic angle.
